Residents in Crown Heights tell News 12 they've had lower power for most of the day. While it's unclear what may have caused the outage, video shows what appears to be a manhole fire that may have contributed to it. People say the inconsistent power has caused poor air conditioning, their refrigerators to shut off and building elevators not working. News 12 spoke with residents like Prentis Holder, who says he needs the elevator to leave his home. He says not having an elevator or proper air conditioning has been a nightmare. "It's been like I'm locked up I want to go out and get some air. I had to take a cold shower right now and I'm a sick man I shouldn't have to do that but I did," said Holder.
Crews remain mobilized and are expected to restore 95% of the remaining Brooklyn customers affected by the heat event by 7 p.m. Friday.
