Fire crews spent the day battling a fire at a recycling facility in the Village of Sloatsburg.
The fire started Monday just before 2 p.m. at the Sterling Recycling facility.
Ramapo police said the fire started from a boat that had been dropped off to be broken down. Fuel was accidentally left in the boat’s gas tank and ignited.
Also, fire officials say the building is filled with construction debris, which was the main challenge for crews.
Sterling Mine Road was closed between Eagle Valley Road and Arcadia Court, causing heavy traffic.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
