The Washington Mystics second-year sensation Sonia Citron, of Eastchester, is headed to Berlin to compete for Team USA in the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.

Citron and her teammate Kiki Iriafen were chosen to replace injured World Cup gold medalists A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum.

She previously participated in the Women's National Team Training Camp in December.

This will be her USA Basketball senior debut.

Citron adds this selection to several milestones she has reached in her young WNBA career.

Team USA open group plays against China Sept. 4, followed by Italy on Sept. 6 and Czechia on Sept. 7.
