Extreme heat warning for Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties is in effect until Tuesday 8 p.m.
Heat advisory for western Ulster County is in effect until Tuesday 8 p.m.
Air quality Alert for Rockland and Westchester counties is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight.
Due to elevated ground level ozone, those with breathing issues and other health concerns are urged to limit their exposure to any strenuous activities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Temperatures will trend even hotter Tuesday, as the extreme heat warning continues until 8 p.m. Temperatures could feel as high as 111 degrees during the peak heat of the day, which is in the afternoon. The warning is in effect for everyone in the Hudson Valley except western Ulster County. That is where a heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Temperatures will be a “touch cooler" in the Catskills but will still be hot and should be taken seriously.
There is going to be a break in the heat Wednesday as a chance for showers and storms develops. It is a low chance but still possible to see some rain.
The chance increases for Thursday, when it will be cooler. The temperatures will be at more comfortable levels Friday, with highs potentially in the 70s to low 80s.
There is going to be around a 20 to 30% chance of showers on Friday and into the weekend ahead. None of those days are washouts, but a passing shower is possible.

TUESDAY: Sunny, hazy, hot and humid. Highs: Upper 90s to low 100s. Lows: Mid-70s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny with a chance of showers and storms popping up on the last hot and humid day of this stretch. Highs: Mid-90s. Lows: Upper 60s to low 70s.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Highs: Low to mid- 80s. Lows: Mid-60s.
FRIDAY: Partly cloudy with a chance for showers. Highs: Mid-70s. Lows: Mid-60s.
SATURDAY: Partly cloudy with a chance for showers. Highs: Upper 70s to low 80s. Lows: Upper 60s.
SUNDAY: Partly cloudy with a chance for showers. Highs: low to mid 80s. Lows: mid 60s.
MONDAY: Partly cloudy with a chance for showers. Highs: Low 80s. Lows: Mid-60s.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny with a chance for a pop-up storm. Highs: Mid-80s. Lows: Upper 60s to low 70s.
