A Kingston man is facing multiple felony charges after prosecutors say he struck a pedestrian with a vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries.
The charges stem from an Aug. 1 crash at the intersection of Broadway and Liberty Street in Kingston. Prosecutors say the pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was flown to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. He was later transferred to a long-term intensive care unit, where he remains in a coma.
An Ulster County grand jury indicted 35-year-old Justin Greico on charges including second-degree assault, second-degree vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an incident, reckless driving and tampering with physical evidence.
Authorities allege Greico had been drinking before the crash and was driving a vehicle owned by his partner, 39-year-old Katie Potter. Investigators say the pair attempted to conceal evidence connected to the collision.
Potter was indicted on charges including tampering with physical evidence, falsifying business records and insurance fraud.
Both were arrested Oct. 7 on warrants issued by Ulster County Supreme Court and arraigned Tuesday. Bail for Greico was set at $20,000.
