The Veterans Appreciation Reception welcomed 225 servicemembers into the Nyack Seaport on Tuesday for an evening of dedication and commemoration for those who have served.
The event was hosted by Sen. Bill Weber to honor local veterans.
This year's honoree was former Clarkstown Councilman Mark Woods Jr., who was inducted posthumously into the 2025 Veterans Hall of Fame.
"For someone like me, from a generation that didn't have to serve, I really respect the veterans that served to protect our county, to give us the freedom's that we all enjoy, and sometimes take for granted," Sen. Weber said.
The Mario Cuomo Bridge, formerly known as the Tappen Zee Bridge, also turned its lights to red, blue and white in honor of all veterans.
Sen. Weber added for anyone who was unable to attend, there will be a Veteran's Advisory Council meeting open to the public in July for any veterans interested.
