The family of a Suffern teenager killed in a 2021 crash in Montebello has reached a financial settlement with the family of the driver.
Jacqueline Zangrilli, 16, was a passenger in a car driven by classmate Joseph DeBellis, who was 18 at the time.
Police say DeBellis was speeding when he crashed into a utility pole on Route 202, killing Zangrilli and injuring himself and three others.
He later pleaded guilty to charges related to the drunk driving crash and was sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation.
An attorney for the Zangrilli family confirmed the case was settled out of court but said all parties signed a confidentiality agreement and could not comment further.
Attempts to reach the DeBellis family’s attorney were unsuccessful.
