A Washingtonville grocery store was evacuated Monday due to a fire in a walk-in cooler.

The incident happened at the Stop & Shop on Brotherhood Plaza around 7:30 p.m., according to Washingtonville police.

Authorities say a worker called 911, alerting them to the fire in a storage area

News 12 was sent a photo of the scene showing the heavy police and firefighter response.

Officials say the fire didn’t spread and was quickly put out.

The store reopened a short time later, according to police. No injuries were reported.
