Three Kingston men have been charged after police say they robbed a man, stole his wallet and cellphone, and forced him to reveal his bank card PIN during an early morning encounter in the city.

According to Kingston police, the incident happened around 4:45 a.m. Sept. 20 when three men approached a person walking from a store on Broadway. Police say the victim was taken to a secluded area off Broadway, where the suspects stole the victim's wallet and cellphone.

Investigators say the wallet contained a debit card, and the suspects forced the victim to provide the card's PIN number. Police allege two of the suspects held the victim in the secluded area while the third went to an ATM and withdrew cash.

Authorities say the three suspects later attempted to force the victim to walk to another location. The victim was able to escape and run from the suspects before calling 911.

Following an investigation, Kingston police arrested three Kingston residents: Mickael S. Spiecker, 40, Shareal N. Brown, 27, and Dustin G. VanEtten, 27.

All three were charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, a misdemeanor. Police say the suspects were arraigned in Ulster County CAP Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail.

According to police, Spiecker and Brown were both on parole for burglary at the time of their arrest, while VanEtten was out on bail for a previous robbery charge.
