A woman is accused of breaking into two synagogues in the Village of Monticello, police say.

Adalis Rodriguez-Valentin, 33, was arrested for allegedly burglarizing the two houses of worship just days apart - one in the Pine Knoll Bungalow colony and the other at 70 Wood Avenue.

According to officials, the investigation unfolded after officers responded to a burglary in progress at the Pine Knoll Bungalow colony, located at 198 Forestburgh Road, at around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Surveillance video showed two people entering the synagogue and walking around the grounds.

Police say they spotted the duo moments later and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers found Rodriguez-Valentin hiding under a building and took her into custody.

They did not locate her partner in crime, according to officials.

Surveillance video of the burglary at 70 Wood Ave. helped investigators tie Rodriguez-Valentin to the second break-in, which happened just two days prior.

Rodriguez-Valentin is now charged with two counts of third-degree burglary. She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance, according to officials.

Police say they are continuing to search for the second alleged burglar.
