Two men are facing multiple felony charges after trying to commit identity theft at a bank in Putnam County, according to Carmel police.
Officers say they received a report Wednesday of a man attempting to withdraw money at the Hudson Valley Credit Union on Route 6. The caller claimed the man had what appeared to be a fake driver’s license.
When police arrived on scene, they arrested a 31-year-old from Manhattan and a 39-year-old from White Plains involved in the potential scheme.
Both are charged with identity theft, criminal possession of a forged instrument, attempted grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property.
They were arraigned in Carmel Town Court and released. Both are set to reappear at a later date.
