Chicago police have released new footage showing officers responding to the shooting that killed a Yorktown college student near Loyola University.
The video shows police at a beach area near campus following the death of 18‑year‑old Sheridan Gorman, who was a freshman at the school.
Police said Jose Medina‑Medina faces multiple charges, including first‑degree murder.
Authorities said he was in the country illegally and is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday.
The White House posted a message on Instagram honoring Gorman and offering prayers to her loved ones.
The Trump administration said it is working to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.
In Westchester County, communities continue to honor her memory.
Homes in Yorktown are illuminated in green — the colors of Yorktown High School — as a show of support.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday at Jack DeVito Memorial Field in Yorktown Heights.
Her former field hockey team plans to hold a memorial game next month.
