Residents in Bronxville Manor are raising concerns after a noticeable gas odor prompted an emergency response near the intersection of Ridge Street and Middle Road.
The smell brought the Eastchester Fire Department and Con Edison to the scene Tuesday evening. Crews took air readings and went door to door checking basements for potential leaks.
The area is just one block from William E. Cottle School, adding to concerns among nearby families.
Officials told News 12 that gas readings in the air were low. However, residents say the odor has been noticeable for several days.
Lauren Magle, who lives nearby, says the situation is unsettling, especially with young children at home.
"I have a 6-year-old and a 7-month-old inside, so obviously it's very disconcerting," she says.
Authorities remind residents that if they smell gas, they should call 911 or contact Con Edison’s emergency line immediately.
