A porch pirate is on the loose after swiping multiple packages from a home in Westchester County.
The Port Chester Police Department said the burglary happened on S. Regent Street. Police shared Ring camera video of the incident. In the video, a man wearing a black hoodie with yellow lettering approaches the home's front porch and takes three packages before walking off.
Port Chester police remind you to stay vigilant, as this is part of a nationwide trend of stealing packages after they were just delivered. To prevent porch piracy from increasing in local communities, police departments throughout the region urge residents to pick up mail promptly after delivery.
Anyone that cannot be home when important things, like checks, credit cards or other sensitive items, are delivered should ask a trusted friend or neighbor to pick it up. If you're going to be out of town for long periods at a time, you can also tell your post office to hold your mail until you return.
This burglary also comes as people are starting to expect deliveries from online Memorial Day sales that happened over the weekend. Anyone that recognizes the man in the video or sees any suspicious activity happening in their neighborhood should contact the Port Chester Police Department at (914) 939-6332.
