New Jersey Transit engineers could soon walk off the job leaving thousands of people without rail service, including Metro-North riders in the area who rely on West of Hudson lines.
The MTA says 1,350 people use its West of Hudson service everyday.
The MTA has planned to roll out other options for commuters as a precaution.
News 12 spoke with people at the Nanuet train station on Wednesday, where there are many signs warning people about potential service disruptions beginning Friday.
They say they have plans to take East of Hudson rail lines or have bought bus tickets.
Reports say NJ Transit and the union representing the engineers have met in Washington, D.C. this week to negotiate. It's reported that the labor dispute is mainly about wages.
