Cleanup efforts continued across the Hudson Valley Monday after a day of persistent rain left behind flooded roadways, downed trees and hazardous driving conditions.
A portion of Forrest Avenue in Rye remained closed Monday evening between Grace Church Street and Manursing Avenue as crews worked to address storm-related damage. Traffic cones blocked access to the roadway, forcing drivers to seek alternate routes.
Elsewhere in Westchester County, storm impacts were widespread. Crews responded to a large tree that fell onto utility wires along Granite Springs Road in Somers. Workers were seen cutting up the tree and clearing debris from the area.
Photos showed another large tree down on wires along Sagamore Avenue in Yorktown, adding to the list of storm-related incidents reported throughout the county.
Officials are urging residents to use caution around downed trees and power lines, warning that wires may still be energized. Drivers are also encouraged to slow down on wet roads and give utility and public works crews space as cleanup operations continue.
