Westchester’s first human case of West Nile virus this season has been reported in Yonkers.

Health officials say it’s a resident who recently traveled outside of the country.

West Nile is transmitted to humans through mosquito bites.

Residents can protected themselves by wearing long sleeves while outside, using insect repellant and removing standing water from your property.
