The Pentagon has released 162 files pertaining to UFOs.
The files contain photos and videos kept secret since the 1940s. Among those released, a NASA photograph from the Apollo 17 mission to the moon in 1972, showing three lights in the sky. Others are lighted objects moving quickly through the sky. Another is a sketch someone reported of a bronze metallic object.
There have been plenty of sightings in New Jersey reported to popular websites that track UFOs, including the National UFO Reporting Center.
Jeff Hernandez, of Rahway, sent a photo last year to that website, which included an object near a plane over his house.
“I just happened to catch it. It was in my lens and I caught it. The angle of the picture looks like a cylinder, but it looked more disc-like. But if you were to blow it up, it had an oval shape to it," said Hernandez.
Hernandez says he asks his wife the same question when he spots something overhead.
"Why am I always seeing these things? She thinks I’m joking around, but I show her the proof," said Hernandez.
The
Pentagon is offering the public a look at the once-classified information in an attempt at transparency on the topic of UFOs.
